Operating Room 1 of Farabi Hospital
Dear patient, on behalf of the retinal surgery operating room staff at Farabi Hospital, we strive to provide you with the best possible healthcare services in collaboration with ophthalmology specialists, including retinal detachment surgery, intraocular injections, and retinal surgery-related services in the shortest possible time and with maximum satisfaction. Farabi Hospital is a research and teaching hospital, and ophthalmology residents and fellows will perform surgery on patients under the direct supervision of ophthalmology professors. Operating Room 1 of Farabi Hospital consists of 6 rooms and has 7 surgical beds. The emergency exit door is located inside room number one and is marked with a sign. The staff's uniforms are light blue or light green, and the operating room walls are green.
Important points for patients:
* Please read the Patient's Bill of Rights and patient education bulletin board located in the patient waiting area.

* After the operating room entrance door, a red line is drawn on the floor. You must remove your shoes and put on operating room slippers. Your companion can only accompany you up to this line.
Pre-operative preparation steps for retinal surgery:
* Take a shower the night before surgery and avoid wearing perfume or makeup.
* Your waiting time will vary from three to five hours depending on the type of surgery. Please remain calm and cooperate fully with the operating room staff.
* Most surgeries are performed under general anesthesia, and in some cases, under local anesthesia with an injection of anesthetic into the eye or eye drops. In this case, please do not move your head during surgery.
* Insured patients' lenses, gels, and other surgical supplies are subject to insurance deductibles and are provided to them based on the health plan.
* Never exchange your surgical supplies with other patients and take care of your file, lens, and gel.
* If you have dentures, gold, jewelry, hair ties, clothing other than underwear, prosthetics such as artificial legs and artificial eyes, please hand them over to the operating room reception desk. If you have a hearing aid, please wear it in your ear as agreed with the reception desk.
* If you have a pacemaker, heart stent, or fistula in your hand, please inform the reception desk.
* If you have a specific illness such as epilepsy, diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease, please inform the reception desk.
* Be sure to check your identification bracelet to make sure it matches your name and surname.
* Patients who have difficulty walking will be moved in wheelchairs.
* Due to the thinness of the slippers and the possibility of slipping in the operating room, please always go to the operating room with the reception staff or the surgeon.
* If you use narcotics, please inform the type and amount of consumption.
* If you experience severe headache, dizziness, blackouts, or nausea while waiting, do not get up from your seat and call the reception desk loudly.
* If you need a specific position after surgery, please follow the given position and timing carefully to achieve a better surgical outcome.
* Under general anesthesia, you may experience a burning or sore throat for three days to one week. You should avoid eating hot, spicy, and hard foods and drink cool fluids.
* If you have a fever, cold, or abnormal eye discharge, please inform the reception desk.
* If you are taking vital medications such as heart medications, blood pressure control medications, seizure medications, thyroid medications, etc., take them as usual on the day of surgery.
* If the surgeon has prescribed medication before surgery, please obtain it and bring it with you on the day of surgery.
* If you have an allergy to any medication or eggs, please inform the reception desk.
* If you experience itching, burning, watery eyes, or discharge in your eyes, please inform the reception desk.
* If you have eaten any food or other food in the past 8 hours, please inform the reception desk. You must be fasting for surgery.
* A companion should be present in the operating room waiting area on the day of surgery to be available if needed. For patients under 18 years of age or patients with mental problems, a parent or legal guardian must be present on the day of surgery to consent to the operation.
* If you are on dialysis, talk to your doctor about the timing of dialysis before and after surgery.
Important points after surgery:
* Do not touch your bandage or angiocatheter after surgery.
* The surgical wound needs nutrients such as protein and vitamins to heal. It is best to follow a high-protein diet containing vitamin C after surgery.
* If patients have pathological eye specimens, they will be sent to the laboratory.
